Orbi as a router with Gigabit speeds - any performance degradation?

AT&T is close to installing their GigaPower 1Gbps internet service in my neighborhood. I currently use the RBK50 as a router for my AT&T/Pace 5268AC modem. I think this is the same modem AT&T uses for the gigabit service.

Is there any hardware limitiation in the Orbi that will limit the wired speed of modem? I realize that Wi-Fi will be limited to 200-350Mbps.

  • No limit to wired speeds between two wired devices.  The only exception is comminication between wired devices, when one is wired to the satellite and one is wired to the router, because the data must pass across the wirleless backhaul.

I probably misused the word "degradation". I'm just trying to confirm the Orbi will support full Gigabit routing capacity (as a router, not switch). Because many routers don't.

Yes, I'm aware of the wireless backhaul situation :)
