Orbi Connection dropping issues?
I use the RBS20 and over the last few days i have noticed on my desktop computer that inconsistently every few minutes it would disconnect from the orbi satellite i have it connected to via Cat6 ethe...
While a 2.5G Ethernet card is supposed to be backward compatible with slower speed Ethernet, there is absolutely no way that it can improve performance. The Orbi satellite LAN port is limited to 1Gbit.
If something has "worked for years" and the Orbi router and satellite remain in the same locations, that does not seem to point toward a "distance issue".
I would focus on the desktop computer.
- Has software been updated recently? (aside from adding another Ethernet adapter)
- Is there a pattern to these disconnections?
- Does the Windows network troubleshooter complain about anything?
- What is required to get the Ethernet connection working again? (restart desktop? restart satellite?)
