Orbi connection inconsistent speed
I have 3 Orbi RBR50 setup in my house. I am seeing issues with anyone connected to the satellite units seeing inconsistent speeds. So I plugged a laptop into the main unit and one into the first sa...

I have a PC in the RBR and a laptop in the RBS. I am pinging from one to the other. So both are on wired connections.

I would ping test with the PCs connected to the back of the RBR first. then both connected to the RBS 2ndly. Ping testing over wireless maybe problematic and inaccruate as there are many factors in wifi that can lead to false positives. Pings won't be the same or anywhere near what wired pings are.

Quick Update
I downgraded the firmware in the RBS and RBR to 2.3.1.44
Runing the same ping test with a PC in the Ethernet port on the RBR and a laptop on the Ethernet on the RBS the ping times are way more consistent. There is some variance from 5 to 22ms. But that is way better than the 5 to 800ms I was seeing with the firmware 2.3.1.48. The speedtest numbers are about 1/3 when run from Ethernet on the satellite vs the router. I will see if the stability is enough to work for a day or two and then I will see what I can do to increase the throughput. Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

Thanks for letting us know. You might open a support ticket with NG and let them know what your seeing between the FW versions.

...now I wonder where this idea came from...?
Now do yourself a favor and leave the FW alone. I'm glad it worked out for you. Thanks!

So it didn't really work out for me. While I could make them somewhat stable there were never anywhere near as fast as they should be. And the stability didn't last. It was much better than when I started, but never enough to keep them. I opened a support ticket asking for more help. They made a few suggestions that mostly mirrored the advice given here. So big thumbs up to everyone here who knows the product. Sorry to say my last conversation with support is basically me asking to return the units. I am going to have find a better solution for my home.
