This is a problem with many router and WiFi systems. For 20 years, the industry practice with consumer routers has been to use "http" for the web management interface. The thinking may have been, "anyone who is inside the LAN already has physical access to the device". And, "https" web sites were not as common as they are today. Notice that Orbi does not respond to an "http" connection from the internet.
Modern browsers are now almost paranoid about "http" and complain any time a customer wants to access one. STOP STOP UNSAFE GO BACK. There is usually an option in tiny print where the user can say, "I know what I'm doing. Just go to the damn site already."
Orbi does include an "https" version of the web site. Try browsing to https://orbilogin.net. Unfortunately, last August Netgear's ownership of the SSL certificate for "orbilogin.net" expired. Either they failed to renew it, or were not allowed to renew it. (Nobody seems to know.) So Netgear has "self-signed" an SSL certificate on the Orbi. Well, modern browsers complain about THAT as well. UNSAFE UNSAFE GO BACK THE SKY IS FALLING.
So, yes, you are correct and there is nothing that can be done except tell the browser to go ahead. The browser should remember and not complain again.
Wow. Not what you expected. Sorry.
