Hello - I have had my Orbi installed for less than a week. 3 time now it has lost all connection to the internet. I have to reboot, unplug, both the Orbi and my modem multiple time before I can get...

Hello Everyone
We have release firmware version 1.12.0.18 this firmware has fixes for disconnects and many more I posted the release notes below.

If you are still having issues after updating your Orbi unit you may want to factory reset the Orbi and test again. If you are still having disconnect issues or other issues with this firmware please create a new thread or contact our support team.

Mar 24, 2017Petey, other manufacutres have their own set of issues. I am talking about the issues that Netgear is having. Don't try to change what I say. You have already proven since being on here your a netgear fanboy. At first you said it was an Apple problem, not Orbi, and now you are making up other excuses.
Tell you what, post your logs from your Orbi unit, and let's see if that proves you aren't having disconnects. Because it shows up in there a lot.

It's most definitely the Orbi having the WiFi issues. I have never had that issue with a router. My PS4, Tivo, Samsung Galaxy. Almost any device connected to wifi would just suddenly lose connection and I have to toggle the wifi on my android device to connect back to the network. This is very frustrating. I noticed this on the second day that had the Orbi setup. I can't believe we don't have a firmware to fix this yet. Maybe the ethernet backhaul would fix this issue. If we were to ever get that. The disconnecting issue is huge IMO this needs to be fixed asap. You can't do any competitive online gaming with this going on.

No issues here. Seven days of logs since FW update, with zero disconnects or logged error messages. AP mode.

jleecloak1 Did you try lowering Orbi power, esp on 2.4g?
- jleecloak1Mar 24, 2017Apprentice
I will try that and see if that helps when I leave work, thanks for the recommendation.

Are you saying to turn off the 5ghz radio, so that the 2.5Ghz band is the only signal?
- st_shawMar 25, 2017Master
No. I believe you will lose the backhaul if you turn off the 5 GHz radio. I'm suggesting turning down the power on the 2.4 GHz radio.
Advanced->Advanced Setup->Wireless Settings->Transmit Power Control. There are 100/75/50/25% setttings for both the 2.4G and 5G radios on this page.
Also make sure you are not running any other WiFi routers or access points.

nope the 5 gig backhaul is independant , you can turn off both 2.4 gig and 5 gig and it works as a media bridge , i have tested it here and it works great that way as well

Thanks. Makes sense and good to know. Someone recenty reported on here that they turned off the 5G and lost the backhaul.

Oh, got it.

That didn't work, I just got disconnected again.

Can you do a channel scan with a WiFi scanner application and look at your power levels and channel use to see if there are other devices on the channels you are using? Something like this:
- jleecloak1Mar 25, 2017Apprentice
I will try changing the channel. Hopefully that helps.
- st_shawMar 25, 2017Master
Might help. Best to download scanner software so you can get a complete picture though. You want to make sure your Orbi router and sat signals are not the same strength too. If they are, you need to move them farther apart. Use only channels 1, 6. or 11 on the 2.4 G band.

Thanks trying that now.

Well, sad to say that I got a ton of disconnections tonight. I was hoping that I'd be one of the lucky ones and not have any issues, but I guess not. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to wait for a fix (how long - who knows), try messing with power like some of the suggestions (seems kind of ridiculous to have to manually tweak that) or try another product (bit it seems like all products have some issues).
None of these are real good choices. Ugh.
