Orbi Losing wifi connection
I have had the Orbi AC 2200 for a month now. 2 to 3 times a week we completely lose our wifi.

Folks, I am thinking of purchasing one of these, and I'm concerned about this Internet dropping problem.
However, I am pretty computer literate and reading all these messages, I wonder if maybe I have the solution for you.
If you currently own a cable modem and a separate router, I'll just bet you don't have the Internet dropping problem if you unplug your old router and use only the Orbi router.
However, if you have a cable modem with a built-in router, I suspect you are the folks that are having this problem. You cannot just plug Orbi into your existing router and hope for the best. Your built-in router will need to be taken out of router mode and put into bridge mode. There are technical reasons why this is important, but let's just say that having a router plugged into a another router is bound to cause you problems with internet connectivity.
Important! Once you configure your existing modem/router to be in bridge mode, you should only plug one thing into it!!! And that is your Orbi router. If you still have the option to disable wi-fi once you configure for bridge mode, I would do that too.
If you want to research why I am making this recommendation, start with a search of things like network bridge and NAT (Network Address Translation). Unless you are pretty tecnical, expect to be confused.
- ztevieDec 19, 2017GuideI doubt built in routers in cable modems is the problem. People have no problems with normal routers, or even other similar systems, like amplifi or Google WiFi? Several have mentioned that when they skip the orbi and just replace it with another router, problems disappear...
Edit: I have also considered buying this system but after all these threads...? No...
Every system has bugs and issues in the beginning, but Netgear seems to be completely silent about this which to me indicate they don't have a solution. - EnolaGuyDec 30, 2017Aspirant
Well, I purchased one of these. I did not put my existing router into bridge mode, but I did turn off it's wireless and only have my ORBI router plugged into it. Everything seems to fine using my existing router as the gateway, so I guess I'll leave it that way.

the problem is coming from Android Oreo devices... I verified by turning off wifi on my phone last night, haven't had any issues with Orbi... Netgear still has to come up with a fix for their end, because no way should a client be able to disrupt and REBOOT a router!

no oreo devices in my house and the internet was dropping all the time, so that isnt the reason...plus, dozens of others have the dropping issue without any oreo OS on their devices..
