Orbi MR 2.1 Update 3/23/18
Our teams are still working through the issues, but I wanted to provide a quick update on OrbiOS 2.1. We usually wait to release our software until it's available across all Orbi product lines, but ...

Sharing this for the techies here. While I have not had any perceived issues with the latest firmware (.34) on my RBK53 (but currently only using 1 of the 2 satellites that came with it) I did notice that DHCP requests seem to be a little odd. Here's an extract from my log once I remove all the DOS Attack stuff. Look at the .16 IP for example... It's a LIFX bulb and had multiple DHCP requests etc.... I would expect a device to get DHCP and then hold it until renewal:

Hello,
I understood that fix for issue making Orbi nearly unusable was found in the meantime.
Currently I am spending ~1-2 hours / day trying to get Orbi to stable state (using ethernet backhaul - Wifi uplink not possible).
This is terrible experience considering the price of the product.
When I tried to open support ticket - for Orbi it never shows button to continue and I am looking at endless wheel rotating trying to find Orbi records is knowledgebase. When I tried for my Netgear X4S it works just fine (so it is on purpose?).
My setup is Netgear DL200 in bridge mode -> behind Nighthawk X4S with Wifi OFF -> behind is Netgear switch GS108 -> behind is RBR40 and 2x RBS40 (all AP mode).
*Problems experienced are:
*Disconnection of Apple devices from WiFi
*Suden unavailability of Wifi to any device
*No Internet access
*First or second satellite start flooding network with packets -> network down
When everything runs (and I am lucky) I see zero satellites reported to RBR40 (shows 0 in iPhone app and in WebUI at the same time)
I spent quite a lot of money on Netgear equipment (for home use) and now with latest 500$ purchase I got worst experience.
When the new version of firmware containing the fix is going to be released?
(since I can not contact support using my account I am writing here)

I updated to the newest firmware and it worked for a few days error free. I had an issue where I lost internet yesterday, and reset both the router and the satellite. This worked for a few hours. Now it appears as if anything attached to the satellite is losing internet. If I reset the satellite, it works for a while, then same symptoms. I have unplugged the satellite and currently don't have any issues. I'm going to leave the satellite unplugged and see how things are for the rest of the day.
This is beyond frustrating. I have been trying to deal with this since I bought the Orbi in December. There seems to be no recourse here....I can't keep these devicies much longer if this isn't fixed/addressed.
If someone from netgear wants to gather data, let me know. I have a wide array of devices (kindles, alexa, android, iPhones). I'm more than willing to help.

Have you tried generating a new backhaul password ( Advanced > Advanced Setup > Wireless Settings > Generate Button and then sync the satellite up again? Only thing I could think of trying.
- CyberExorcistApr 02, 2018Star
They both were factory reset, and the satellite works initially after unplugging or resetting, so I dont' think the backhaul is the issue.

I can confirm, we've begun pushing 2.1.3.4 available for auto-upgrade. Feel free to upgrade using mobile app / WebUI.

So you say anything connected to the satellite loses connection to the "Internet"
If you connect a laptop to the satellite are you are not able to get to the internet but are you able to connect to the Router itself on the LAN or ping it? I ask because that would determine if the satellite is losing connectivity completely or just a route to the internet. Why I suggested generating a new key.

How long did you give the Satellite and system to configure itself after the ethernet was connected between the Satellite and Router? Need to give about 2-5 minutes.
Any external network switches in between the router and Satellite? If so, what is the mfr and model# of the switch?

Dear Orbi Product Mgmt --
So the latest auto push you made broke wired backhaul for me. Is that a known issue? When do you plan to fix this?

Did you do a factory reset then setup from scratch?
After setting up the Satellite on wirless first and it's working, then connect the ethernet cable for wired back haul, give 2-50 minutes for the system to re-configure for wired back haul. Should come back. Mines working as is others.
There any network switches between the router and satellite?

It was up for over an hour. I have the router going to a Netgear GS108T managed switch, but I'm not using wired backhaul on the satellite. I'm just using the normal 5G. Clients show connected over wireless but they cannot get to the Internet. My laptop is a home run shot to the GS108T from my office and I haven't experienced any issues with wired, only wireless from the satellite.

exact same thing happing to me - works great for a few days then random lag then the router locks up and all my devices lose dns (wired before wireless sometimes weird)

Hmm... I don't use the router as the DNS server. I wonder...
Possibly a DNS server issue?
I manually specify my DNS servers as 8.8.8.8, 208.67.222.222 and 8.8.4.4
Advanced > Setup >Internet Setup > "Use These DNS servers"

Do you factory reset the router after upgrading the FW and set up from scratch? This needs to be done for this version of FW.
Let us know what your seeing if you have problems with this version of FW.
