If I am not mistaken, Netgear Arlo cameras require a "base station". The base station talks to the network and the cameras talk to the base station. My (personal) analysis is that this is done to extend battery life on the cameras. If they were connected to "regular" WiFi, maintaining the WiFi connection would eat up more battery life than some "special" system Netgear devised. (I am often wrong.)
No matter: cameras that support only 2.4G WiFi are almost always configured by gerating a QR code with the WiFi name and password and then pointing the camera at it. (My Wyze and Reolink cameras all do it this way.)

No mistake. A few Arlos (Q Plus, for example) do wifi to the router, but most have a base station that is wired to a router. The cameras then wifi to the hub, at 2.4 Ghz or 5 GHz if it is an Ultra.
