Orbi RBK 50 firmware updates

I just purchased a new Orbi RBK50 one satellite mesh system. I don't understand how the firmware on my satelitte is showing version V2.5.1.16 but the router firmware is V2.0.0.74. Should they not be the same? Also I thought I read that if your firmware version was below V2.2.1.212 you would have to update to that first before going to a newer firmware.

If someone could please help me I would greatly appreciate it. I tried calling Netgear for help but because I purchased from Ebay they say my warranty is null and void.  Also my computer is hardwired to the router but is windows 10 and I do not understand what is meant by unziping a file. I just bought this system to increase my coverage in our house as we stream our content and must admit we are not having any issues. I just feel the router and satellite should be the same firmware version.

When I try to use the Orbi Mobile App on my Iphone it keeps telling me the firmware is up to date but that does not make any sense???

HELP!!!

If your RBR is at v74, then manually download v212 and use a wired PC and web browser to apply v212 to the RBR. Also download v16 for the RBR. After v212 is appied you should be able to apply v16 afterwards. I recommend doing a factory reset and setup from scratch after all is updated.

  • Thank you for your response. I have done what you said and both my router and satellitte are both now at firmware version V2.5.1.16.

Why do you feel I should now do a factory reset and start over again when both the router and satelllite are now in synce?

What would be the method for doing a factory reset and what does in entail?

    Thanks again for the help!
