Yes, I agree. Daisy Chain has some bugs today, also handling of wired devices in Orbi has some glitches that need to be solved.
I really hope that Netgear will fix those issues in the coming releases.

The Orbi is the only DHCP server in the house. Upstream to the Orbi would only be my modem.

When you got the connectiivity issue did you have a mix of wired and wireless backhaul satellites? There are reported issues affecting wired devices when you have a mix of wired and wireless backhaul. Please see here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi/NETGEAR-Orbi-AC3000-satellite-LAN-ports-stopped-working/m-p/1692454/highlight/true#M50302. A workaround to solve this issue is to disable Daisy Chain. Do you have Daisy Chain enabled? Please test to disable it and see if that helps.
