Orbi RBK53 - AP mode getting intermittent Internet failure

Hi,

I'm using my Orbi RBK53 Mesh in AP mode, with the Telco router as the main gateway.

Of late, we have been getting random disconnection and DNS resolution issues when using the Orbi WIFI/Ethernet on our mobile and desktop devices.

I have tried changing the DNS on the devices/PC to 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 instead of the default DNS, but the symptoms persist. Games cannot be connected, and Web sites are not reachable (DNS errors), and we had to refresh a few times for it to work. There's no issue if I use the telco router/wifi or VPN.

I have rebooted the Orbi system a few times, and firmware is the latest. Is there anything I can do? thank you

  • BE sure your ISP serivces and the ISP Modem are working well. Some issues can come from this area since Orbi is in AP mode, data is just passing thru the Orbi system in AP mode and not effecting any routing or DNS configurations.

thanks for the reply. I have no issues when connected to the telco router directly, or using VPN when connected to the Orbi Wifi, so was thinking if it's related to the similar bug with the latest firmware (NTP, Traffic Meter?). I have rebooted all the Orbi routers/satellites, maybe should also reboot the telco router?

Power OFF the ISP Modem and RBR.

IF you have enabled Armor, Circle, Access Controls or Traffic Meter, disable these then power them off then back ON.

Might factory reset if you haven't since last FW update.
