Yes WPA2 is supported on all Orbi systems. Has been around for years.
I do have fast internet, so I am sure the speed bottle-neck for speed is the router.
What speed UP and Down do you pay for from the ISP?
If I upgrade to something like an RBR50 (which can be had relatively inexpensively) I can use the satellites, at least as far as I know. Does anyone have experience with this kind of upgrade? Do I gain that much in performance and security?
50 series is a good system, however is getting up in age, been around since about 2016. Not sure how much longer NG will be putting out FW updates for it. Newer generation Orbi systems are 350, 750, 760, 850, 960 and 970 series.
Finally, is it possible to set the router to re-boot itself periodically as an added security measure?
Reboots don't help with security. If a router needs to be rebooted all the time, then there is a problem that needs to be fixed. Routers are designed and meant to be online 24/7 with no problems.
