The plan says it is 500Mpbs service. When standing next to the router with my phone, I get about 120 as a max. I haven't tried plugging my laptop into the lan jack on the router.
Does this seem right?

Well depends on design and support of the phone, MIMO support and the Orbi system. Possible that combined, may not see 500Mbs speeds across the wireless. The 10 series system was an entry level home system with basic features. So may not have been designed to be a hot rod system like the newer generation systems.
Wired speed test should see 500mpbs for sure though.
