I experienced the same issue of the device dropping internet connection if there is no activity for a period of time. This issue started after almost 1.5 years of use of this device. Alrealdy verified that it has the most current firmware.

Does it affect all your wireless devices only or even the wired devices? Have you tried turning off the satellite and see if that drops the internet connection still?
