Orbi RBR40 Disconnect
I have one RBR40 and three additional satellites. This has been running flawlessly for a few years. Recently we have been having issues in that the ORBI disconnects from the modem. Now, it has disconn...

what happens if you hardwire a pc/laptop into the orbi?
Are you able to access it?
What modem/gateway are you connecting it to?

Nothing happens when I plug a laptop directly into the ORBI.
The ORBI is plugged into a Frontier router (Arris model# NVG468MQ)

The laptop doesn't even show an ethernet connection (not necessarily internet)?
that device from frontier is a modem/router combo device and causes a double nat.
A double nat happens when you cascade more than 1 router.

Fixes? There’s 3 options but only use 1.
1. Put the modem/gateway in modem only/pass through mode. This disables its routing functions.
2. Leave the modem/gateway in router mode but put the Netgears IP address into its DMZ. This forwards the data to the netgear. You can either leave the modem/gateway’s wireless enabled or disabled. Just make sure its using a different wifi channel to prevent interference
3. Put the Netgear into access point mode. This disables its routing functions. Wifi/ethernet still works but it does disable some features.

Ok, I have performed all of the suggestions from here. And I want to truly say thank you for the patience and assistance. But, I am quite certain the issue lies with my Orbi router. I think my 2917 purchase has just quit on me.
question: there does not appear to be a model like mine available anywhere except refurbished models. Are any of the Orbi/Netgear routers available in stores (such as Best Buy) compatible with my satellites? Or do I now have to scrap my entire set up? I ask as I have four satellites and this can become costly pretty quick

Well, that's a difficult question. All of the original Orbi products from 2016-2017 are compatible in the sense that all of the satellites will work with all of the routers. In addition to the offerings on eBay, Amazon is selling the RBR50/RBS50 package (refurbished) for $145. The RBR50 itself for $53. https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-System-Tri-band-Coverage-satellites/dp/B01LXTL37N/ref=sr_1_4?crid=O6AYVT5KWCDU&keywords=netgear+orbi+rbr50&qid=1648703287&sprefix=netgear+orbi+rbr50%2Caps%2C134&sr=8-4
The sad story is that Netgear's Orbi products are not compatible across product lines. i.e. the 'original' satellites will not sync to the newer AX product line. (nor the reverse).
The original post did not identify the specific model numbers of the Orbi satellites. (Or, I missed it.) All of the original satellites are compatible with the RBR50 router.
