Orbi RBR50 + Sats refusing some device connections(ecobee & tplink Kasa Cams)
For about 8 months now I've had tremendous success with the Orbi and its 2 satellites. The number of devices simultaneously connected to the network number in the 30's. For 8 months, I've had no issu...
- Jan 09, 2019Ok, I backed up my settings, reset the router and restored the settings and voila, I am now able to connect my Kasa Cams! So, I guess the problem was that something just went haywire and it needed to be fully reset to get back to working again.

What is the Mfr and model # of these smart switchs? Orbi seems to have some issues with manged, smart or green ethernet switches. Can you try the Orbi system with out the switches i the mix for a while to see if the problem continues
When you say Daisy chain is disbled, is the check mark uncheck next to the check box or is it checked? If you updated to recent FW v.210, try enabling Daisy Chain. Some have mentioned that this seems to be working in reverse order, enabling means disabled actually.
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between them to begin with depending upon building materials.
Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
- SkyecladJan 08, 2019TutorMy wall switches are Meross MSS510. My home is 3700 sq ft and I have 2 satellites. Daisy Chain is not checked and the network topology looks like the setting is indeed off. Network signal looks good. What doesn't seem to be happening is that the router isn't providing an ip address to select devices that are working fine this morning.

I see what your referring to in regards to your device.
What is the distance between the base router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between them to begin with depending upon building materials.
What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
What WPA security modes are you using? Try WPA then see if WPA2 only works betterTry disabling the following and see:

What is the distance between the base router and satellite(s)? I would say that both are less than 30' distance from the router and 1 has direct line of sight with no walls.
What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz. I am now using Channel 11.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many? I have 1 neighbor.
What WPA security modes are you using? Try WPA then see if WPA2 only works better. I am using WPA2.
Try disabling the following and see:
MIMO, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s). I'm not at home at the moment but I know that MIMO is unchecked and I unchecked Coexistence 40/20. I don't see any setting to set 40Mhz only. I don't know if IPv6 is checked.Since our last correspondence, I managed to get the Ecobee's connected. It seems to be an issue with obtaining an IP address. The first several connection attempts, I was able to connect to the router but the IP address was a local one and the device couldn't connect to the internet. After a couple of attempts, the device finally received an IP address. If the automated attempt wouldn't work, then I was going to try to set a static address on the Ecobee to see if it would help. The Kasa Cam has no manual Wifi entries that I know of, I'll have to check later. From my persepctive, this is what seems to be the issue, devices are able to see a strong wifi signaal but Orbi is having trouble assigning IP addresses to some devices. This has not been an issue before so I'm not sure what changed now. Any advice for this kind of issue?
