Orbi RBR50 + SIRO Vodafone Ireland - Upload speed slower than ISP Router

Hi guys,

Recently got Gigabit FTTH installed I have the router setup in PPPOE using VLAN 10 as required by my ISP.

Here is my problem:
The upload speed is much much slower than my ISP provided router Huawei HG569 but the download speed is faster than my ISP modem. I live in a pretty small apartment and I was hoping to just use Orbi as my router and save some space and clutter by not having 2 routers.

Avg Upload Speed Huawei (600 - 700 mpbs)
Avg Upload Speed Orbi ( 70 - 90 mbps )

Avg Download Speed Huawei ( 400 - 500mpbs)
Avg Download Speed Orbi (900 - 950mbps)

Does anyone know why it would be doing this  ?

Regards,

River.

  • What Firmware is currently loaded?

This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. Couple of options,
    1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
    2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
    3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

What are the upload speeds if you configure the Orbi in Ap mode as in option #3?
