ORBI RBR50: Low Upload/Download speeds
Hi, I'm with Shaw in Canada. I have the Internet 300 plan. Noticed slow upload/download speeds when running Ookla's speed test on my iMac. Talked to Shaw support. They had me plug my modem in directl...
Run the Speed test from the app or WEB GUI > This will give you the wired internet speed from the Orbi, through your ISP router.
Using the WEB GUI, go to Advanced, Advanced Setup, Wereless Settings:
Uncheck Enable 20/40 MHz Coexistence
Check Enable WMM (Wi-Fi multimedia) settings
Check Enable Implicit BEAMFORMING - Boosts WiFi speed, reliability, & range for all mobile devices
Check Enable MU-MIMO
Uncheck Enable Fast Roaming
Are you testing the speed on the mac over wifi or hardwired?

Tested it on the iMac hardwired to modem (fast speeds), and then over WiFi (modem connected to Orbi -- slow speeds).

I read on another thread, where other Imac owners are experiencing the same slow WIFI. One user decided to try a USB based WIFI card and his speeds were excellent. He mentioned an issue with the Imac WIFI card.
Interesting. I'll look into that. I'll admit, though, that I currently don't know what a "a USB based WIFI card" is.
