orbi RBR50 not connecting with motorola mb8600 modem

Netgear works fine on old Arris Surfboard, but not on the new modem which supports gigabit internet speeds. any ideas?
Perhaps it is worth definining "bond" in the context of this post. The MB8600 modem has the capability to "bond" more than one gigabit port together to provide more than 1GB internet to the customer. RBR50 Orbi cannot do this. This Orbi has only one ethernet WAN port.
The MB8600 setup guide mentions a number of things that "blink" or turn blue. Exactly which of these things is flashing green rather than blue?
