Orbi RBR50 Ping Spikes
Problem: Orbi satallite has random Ping spikes every few seconds going from 10ms ping to 600ms ping. This makes any online game unplayable. I have had the Orbi system about 8 months and only started having this issue about a month ago.
Current set up: Orbi main router (Orbi RBR 50) is in family room connected to ISP Router. Orbi Satilite router (RBS50) is 3 rooms over and 1 floor up from the main router. When doing syncing, the diagnostic lights show Blue indicating a solid connection so placement should be fine.
PC is connected to the Satilite router via ethernet cable and is suffering from the lag spikes. 2 different computers have been tried and both have the same ping issues.
Attempted Fix: Factory reset and updating ORBI routers firmware. Restarted ISP router.
Computers connected to ISP router do not have the ping issue.
Firmware Version: V2.7.2.104

It would be helpful to know if these ping spikes are internal to the Orbi system or are due to variabilities in the internet connection.
I use the "hrping" program (free at https://www.cfos.de/en/ping/ping.htm ) to measure response times across my Orbi network. (one RBR50 router and one RBS50 satellite with both ethernet and WiFi backhaul).
I collected the results of 5,000 ICMP packets (ping) between:
Two Windows PC's (HP) wired to the router.
A PC wired to the router and a Raspberry Pi wired to the satellite. etc.
The header shows the path from my HP trough cables, WiFi, a gigabit switch, etc. to the "other end".
In no case did I ever get a ping response larger than 219ms. The average ping was under 6ms for every test. If your system produces enormous ping times internally, that is indeed something to look into.
