Orbi RBR50 router and RBS50 Satellite, and RBS40V Orbi Voice
Hello,
I have an Orbi RBR50 router with Firmware version 2.7.4.24, a Orbi satellite RBS50 with Firmware version 2.7.3.22, and a Orbi Voice Satellite with firmware version 2.6.2.4.
I have internet speed of just under 500 MBPS the majority of the time which is what I am paying for as we stream both live and recorded media.
My concern is with my Orbi App. It keeps telling me to Update but when I try I always get a Firmware error message telling me to skip or try again. If I try again I get the same message.
I Am not a technical person and think my router has the correct firmware but I am not sure my 2 satellites are up to date and DO NOT know how to update them since my app keeps giving an error message.
I apologize for my ignorance but could really use some help. I have tried deleting the app several times and reloading but I still get the same error message. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Stupid in Opelika!

There are a lot of complaints on the forum about updating firmware with the Orbi app. The consensus is that using the Orbi web browser interface is much more reliable. (http://orbilogin.net )
The way to determine the most recent firmware is to open a web browser to https://www.netgear.com/support/
Enter the model number of the product in the search box, then select the appropriate product from those listed.
When that page comes up, select Downloads.
This will show that v2.7.4.24 is the latest firmware for the RBR50 router and RBS50 satellite. So, the app is correct that the satellite is not at the most recent firmware. The RBS40V most recent firmware is v2.6.2.8, so it is behind as well.
Using the web browser interface, select the Advanced Tab, then Administration, then Firmware Update.
If "the stars are aligned", this web page will discover that the two satellites have new firmware and will allow you to update them.
Sometimes, the automatic search for new firmware fails (and no one has a good explanation for why). If that happens, and the customer really wants to update the firmware, then it becomes more complicated. Here's an article that explains that process:
