Orbi RBR50v2 loss of internet access
Hi, this is my first post here. After resetting the Orbi router I have lost connect to my internet provider - the suggested network now comes up on my devices as ORBI33, rather than the name of my IS...

Thanks for all your help on this, it really is appreciated. I've gone back to configuring my Virgin Hub as the router and disabling the Orbi system for the time being.
The Orbi works well in AP mode. Pretty easy to set up too.
Just connect the Orbi, and only the Orbi, to a PC. (No need to be on line to do that.) Change it to AP mode and then add it to the network from the router.
You'll end up with two wifi networks. When you are happy that the Orbi meets your needs, turn off the router's wifi. With luck that is simply a case of pressing a button.
Shouldn't take more than about 10 minutes.

The Router is a virgin media hub 3, the network I was logging into until today was the VM network. When I set this up I configured the VM hub into modem mode and then that was wired into the Orbi router - as I say this all worked perfectly well for two years until yesterday.
I didn't realise that Virgin supplied bridgeable routers. I might have to look into them when I finally ditch BT.
That the network worked for two years doesn't really guarantee much. When you set up a new Netgear router, it looks to see what is "upstream" between it and the Internet. If it detects another router, the Netgear box can allocate itself an IP address that doesn't clash with the other router's. (It usually picks the IP address 10.0.0.1 if it sees something on 192.168.1.XX, is normal default.)
Then if something wonky happens afterwards and the Netgear reboots itself, or you reset it, you can end up with clashing IP addresses.
I have no idea what happened at your end, I am just saying what I experienced after BT refused to deal with my line problems unless I used its manky modem/router rather than my own slimline "modem only" Netgear device. Only then could I convince BT that its network was bust, not mine.
If you can get into the modem/router's interface, you can check that the modem mode settings is as it should be.
Then, if the Orbi is still in router mode, it might work to just restart the network as expected:
- Turn off and unplug modem.
- Turn off router and computers.
- Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
- Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
- Turn on computers and rest of network.
If that fails, you may have to reset the Orbi to wipe out any settings that it inherited from the modem/router. That's a pain because you then have to start from scratch setting up the Orbi. This is why it is good to create a backup of your settings so that you can restore them the next time the next work starts playing silly buggers.
How do I back up the configuration settings on my Orbi WiFi System? - NETGEAR Support

Thanks for all your help on this, it really is appreciated. I've gone back to configuring my Virgin Hub as the router and disabling the Orbi system for the time being. I have a couple of wired connections going straight into the Virgin hub and there is only one room with poor wifi now that needs a strong connection - that will have to wait until I can summon up the energy - I've already lost a day's work to this.
I'll try starting from scratch and setting up as if new.
