I have recently bought a second hand Orbi RBK30 (consisting of 1 RBR40 Router + 1 RBW30 Satellite) The Router to Satellite connection keeps dropping out, even when they are only 2 metres away from e...

Does the RBW30 show up on the Attached Devices web page with an IP address?
If so, you can try web browsing directly to the satellite: http://<ip of satellite> and select Firmware Update from the satellite home page.
I would start with 2.5.0.2 (the latest)

I can see the IP address, but when I try to access it I get an error message saying it couldn't gain access. When I run the Network diagnostics I get the following message
"Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (192.168.1.101) is not responding"

I have attached the screen showing a good connection between Router & Satellite

Very strange. Have you tried the "Factory Reset" procedure on the RBW30?

Factory Reset results in a connection with the router for a couple of minutes, then it disconnects again. Not enough time to carry out a firmware upgrade. I don't know how to tell whether it is a firmware problem, or simply a faulty device. It seems to freeze. when this happens I can press sync or factory reset & nothing happens.
When I turn it back on and immediately press the factory reset it lights orange & stays orange until I let go of the factory reset. It then starts to flash white. It then does one of the following:
1) it carries of flashing white, but rather than flashing evenly, it seems to illuminate one end and then the other end of the light ring.
2) it simply turns off
3) it turns blue (which is what should happen) but it stays blue, even after it is reported by the orbi app that it has disconnected
4) It turns magenta & stays magenta. pressing sync or factory reset does nothing.
I don't know if it is relevant, but after upgrading the router firmware the satellite icon on the orgi app shows Linux device. Is this correct, or is this indicating that the firmware is wrong?
