What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Have the ISP check the signal and line quality UP to the modem. Be sure the ISP provisions the modem correctly.
Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters in the between the modem and ISP service box.
Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem.
Be sure to power OFF the modem for 1 minute them back ON.

Has a power off for 1 minute then back on been performed since last update with the modem and Orbi system?
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?

Hi,
the modem/router provided by the ISP is a ZTE H369A. It can not be set into bridge mode. This is an VDSL modem/router including VOIP. So there is no coax in play and my network cabling is just fine, the wired part of my network (not connected with the orbi) keeps on working. The ISP router is never DOWN, just the orbi.
And yes, both modem and orbi have been (factory) reset multiple times;
The issue is that the orbi (access point) stops working - no wifi functionality, unable to access the management menu and logs. After a power cycle everything comes back to normal, but there no log or whatsoever of what happened.

Looks like your modem has a built in router already. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Hi,
thanks for all those suggestions but I have passed that phase.
I have now downgraded the firmware - let's see how the orbi holding next 2 weeks.

What phase have you passed? Helps to have an idea of the state of your ISP modem and it's configuration you have it in. Again, having two routers on the same line can cause problems.
