When i did the factory reset, admittedly, they were in their original positions, 10meters away and i think it was wireless.
Furthermore, when both the router and satellite were fully booted, i plugged the ethernet cable in and i did the sync..

I am no expert. However, I recall reading that many people recommend doing a WiFi sync of the satellite and router first, then connecting them with an ethernet cable, and then finally moving the satellite to its remote location.
I also agree that this is a crazy situation. I am a bit puzzed about what happened to the router when it was moved away temporarily.

Ok, i'll factory reset everything all via wifi and give it a shot... if wonder if well be at square one if it eventually does sync when both devices are right next to each other and then when i move back the satellite, the router doesn't sync with it again hrmm...
i'll give that a shot now and report.
cheers for the help :)

Ok, so the satellite is now right next to the router. I have factory reset both the router and the satellite. The router is fully functional and configured, yay
however, on the satellite has the a solid Magenta LED at the top of the device, suggesting it is not within range of the router?
CrimpOn should i try the sync process even when the magenta lit up, i'm not sure if i have choice at the moment..
When i do the sync process, i'll be using the iPhone app to do it. Should i press the SYNC button on the satellite when carrying out the syncing process or do the sync WITHOUT pressing the button on the satellite?

so while the satellite's top LED was lit up as magenta, i tried to sync the satellite without clicking the SYNC button and it did not find it. The magenta LED was lit up the entire time.
I then tried the sync process again, this time i clicked on the SYNC button and carried out the sync process on my iPhone app.. still can't find the satellite.
I then turned off the satellite and powered it back on.. but nothing...
totally stumped..
