Orbi Voice is recognized, but will not go online

This all started because Alexa "could not understand" and sent me to the orbi app (which does nothing to troubleshoot the problem).

I did a hard reset (held the pin in the rest (15 seconds) and reset the unit to Orbi mode, directly next to the router. Went through the add satellite flow in the orbi app (for iphone). Add satellite flow results in "Satellite not found", however orbi voice appears in the netowrk map, but is magenta - offline (in the app). the LED on the unit still appears white. I cannot get it to connect. I've ensured that the firmware is up to date. 

I'm not sure how to proceed, as my 3 month service window is now expired, and Orbi will not honor the warranty on the unit without the purchase of an upgraded service contract (which makes me question if these units actually have a warranty at all...)
