Orbi WIFI Router access

There is one issue I am not sure how to resolve; our internet provider came out to set up the Orbi to be used with their modem equipment. Works well.

When I tried to download the Orbi app it asks for me to login into the router - username =  "admin" and the password. I tried the default of "password" but it didn't work. The provider did not change the default password. I cannot login to the router, therefore cannot use the app. Not sure what to do to get into the router to manage. Resetting the Orbi is not an option because setting adjustments had to be made to get the Orbi to communicate with the provider equipment in the first place. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Alas, I fear the Internet Service Provider is the key to this situation.

#1 - if the password is no longer "password" (lower case), then the ISP tech most certainly changed it, and should have told you what it is.  Sometimes techs write the password on the product label (bottom of the case).

#2 - If "something had to be done" to the Orbi to enable it to function with the ISP modem, then that should be documented so that you can do it in the future if "something happens" (such as the present situation, you buy a new WiFi router, the Orbi has to be Factory Reset, etc. etc.)

One guess is that this ISP requires a user name and password which the tech entered to set up the Orbi router.

When the user login is rejected three times in a row, the Orbi will display an offer to do a "Password Reset" which involves entering the serial number of the router (from the product label on the bottom of the case) and responding to two security questions.  There is every chance that the tech did not set up security questions or did not record them for you to keep on hand.

If you identify the ISP, we can look at their web site to see whether they require a user login (or not).

I would start with a call to the ISP tech support.

Most typical Cable company modems do not require a user login and a WiFi router will work when it is simply plugged into the modem. (no setup required by the tech).
