ORBI Wifi Speed Drops
Hey Guys, So I have had my Orbi several months now. Every 3-4 weeks the wifi speed drops to below 30 mbs for download. However the speed test on the unit read 190 mps. The wired speeds also drop to e...

Hey guys, thanks for ideas. Sadly I have tried a few new Ethernet cords, I have done speed teats at the modem which consistently show speeds of about 190mbps which is what I would expect. I agree this speed test does cause problems and has made me reset router. However these regular random drops to around 40mbps continue to happen every week or two even when removing the above factors. So any other ideas what might be causing these regular slow downs that then remain until reset?

- Antipodeansam7Sep 05, 2017ApprenticeJust happened again today, all speeds down to below 50 Mbps, wired and wireless, but still reads full speed at the box 195mbps at the box. Haven't changed, added or done anything other than use my handful of devices as usual? Any ideas anybody before I go through the whole factory reset process all over again? Anybody use any other mesh network type routers that do or don't have this problem? I'm losing my patience with this system now
- Antipodeansam7Sep 28, 2017ApprenticeStill no luck with this and haven’t heard from tech support. Only fix I have found is a complete factory reset every time the speed drops from 190 down to about 30mbps. Anybody else coming across this or have any ideas? Ethernet cord and speed test at the modem are all consistent

I have been having these same issues. Geek Squad has been out twice to reset everything, and then a 3rd time to replace everything...Still happening. These randm spped drops happen every day randomly throughout each day. If you could give me some help it would be greatly appreciated.
- Antipodeansam7Feb 05, 2018ApprenticeI will give you some advice but you won’t like it.... with my support having expired my only option was to spend literally hundreds of dollars on phone calls as well as the 700 dollars I had already dropped on the orbi. Having done 30+ factory resets, replaced both router and satellites and played with all sorts of firmware changes I still have the same problems. So I am finally jumping ship and heading to anthers company for my router. Any suggestions? I need something that works and doesn’t interfere with my sonos.....

It happened again to me after the latest firmware (V2.1.2.18). I'm getting close to dumping it.
Sady it's still rated #1 or 2 on most the the review sites. But the Linksys Velop is up there. If the next firmware update doesn't correct this, I am done with Netgear.
