Orbi with D7000 - what router config do you recommened?
Hi there,
I've just installed the Orbi AX6000 connected to my D7000 DSL modem router to replace my unstable powerline + access point network.
I've configured Orbi and turned of wifi broadcasting on the Nighthawk D7000 and most things are working well.
The only issue I have now is that the Orbi is dishing out IP address on a different IP range to my D7000, while my D7000 remains the convenient place to wire certain devices AND it has some useful static routes configured in its IP range.
I'm wondering if switching Orbi's DHCP function off will simply revert to allowing the D7000 to route and issue IP addresses, or if I would need to put Orbi into access point mode for that to work?
Or would you recommend turning off the D7000's router functions and using Orbi instead? (And would the LAN ports on the D7000 continue working in that scenario?

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
