I read the steps from your post seems pretty easy. My question is my cat6 coming from the ont where is that plugged into? Does it stay in the Wan port of the G1100?

I believe so. Then a cable from the G1100s LAN port goes from there to the Yellow WAN port on the RBR.
- alex8828Aug 02, 2019AspirantI will try this out tonight after work and post results.

- punkoramboAug 04, 2019GuideI tried bridging my G1100 with the link I provided and was partially successful.
I was able to have my Orbi obtain an IP from Fios. Afterward, I was getting internet intermittently even with the Orbi maintaining the IP from Fios. I tried rebooting to find the same problem. I couldn’t let it sit for more than 15 minutes because my family was complaining there was not internet so I am not sure if it kept cutting out because it needed to settle up on Verizon’s end or my end. I might try later in the week to and let it sit for an hour or so to see if can keep internet consistently. - alex8828Aug 05, 2019Aspirant
I did not try yet. I am still looking into the benefit of making Orbi primary router rather than just an ap.
- punkoramboAug 06, 2019GuideI’ll probably have a chance to try again Friday. Reading around, Fios might be configured for the MAC Address of the G1100 to have the IP assigned to it so I might have to “change” the MAC on the Orbi so it fools Fios into thinking it it the G1100.
As for the reasons to do it, I would like to pause individual devices, check out Circle and the other security features. - alex8828Aug 06, 2019AspirantYes, like some of the security features as well on the Orbi. I was also thinking if I can’t get it to work probably with the Fios TV the dvr management on the mobile application and caller ID on the TV screen. I was thinking of getting a hardware firewall with UTM for the extra security features and virus/malware protection.
- punkoramboAug 09, 2019GuideI tried again with no luck. I think I’m sticking with AP mode.

Did you give the DMZ option a try on the FIOS router with the RBR?

Could have just been the old router though. Maybe I’ll try it out with the Orbi.
