Orbi

Can I use the orbi router, rbr50, as a satellite, connected to another rbr50?

  • No.  RBR50 can't be used as Satellite.  You can use it as another AP to extend your WiFi network.

This situation frustrates a lot of people.  An Orbi router can never be attached to another router and integrate as a satellite does.  Simply impossible.  It can be used as an ordinary Access Point (AP) provided that it can be attached to the router with an ethernet cable.  There are dozens of inexpensive "WiFi Extenders" that can be connected to an Orbi system over WiFi (no cable), so the concept of using a very expensive device in place of a cheap device and having to run a cable.... well, it's not pretty.

Many people with essentially a "surplus" Orbi router opt to (a) keep it as a spare for when their primary router goes out of warranty and fails (which may never happen), or (b) sell it on eBay.
