Orbi

I purchased used Orbi on eBay and then tried to register it on Netgear but received an error that S/N is already registered. Obviously, it is registered under previous owner's name. I don't have contact info of the previous owner. What can be done?

You don't have to register it to use it.

registering it just allows you to use the free support (from 90 days of purchase on new devices) which isn't transferable and it gives you notices of firmware updates.

Just factory reset it and do a new install on it.

Won't the previous owner be able to use their smartphone app to connect to the device if they are near Raj's house and connected to Raj's wifi network?  What if Anywhere Access is turned on for the device?

I thought that the smartphone app uses the Netgear account login and the associated registered product serial # to identify the product to administer.  It is confusing.

Raj, change all passwords: the one for the Orbi's web interface (username "admin") and for the WiFi network connection.
