- IF (a BIG "if") during the initial setup, password recovery questions were defined, then entering an unaccepted password three times in a row will bring up a Password Recovery option that requires the user to (a) enter the serial number from the product label (i.e. must have physical access to the device), and (b) answer the recovery questions correctly. This will then open the screen to reset the login password. I know it works because I have done it myself. However, the first time this happened to me, I obviously did not create the recovery questions correctly because it totally failed. (That is what prompted the second attempt.) If Password Recovery fails, there there is only one method:
- Perform a "Factory Reset" on the router, which will clear out all settings (everything). The WiFi SSID/password will be set to what is printed on the product label and the admin password will be "password".

During the setup, when creating a new password, be very careful to deliberately click the recovery question drop down menus and select specific questions. GO SLOW.
People hate doing a setup from scratch, especially if they have spent a lot of time assigning IP addresses to devices and customizing the Attached Devices display with device names, model numbers, device type codes, etc. Once the Orbi setup is finished, it is a good idea to make a copy of the configuration so that another setup could use the option, "Load a saved configuration" rather than typing everything from scratch.
Also, when I do a Factory Reset, my last step is to change the WiFi SSID from the default to one that I prefer. That keeps all my devices from immediately connecting to the Orbi and getting IP addresses that I do not want them to have. (That also keeps everything in my house "off the network" during the setup, which may not work for other people.
