This reminds me of (some president) who said, "whoever knew healthcare could be so complicated."
Parental controls is a complicated, messy subject.
- Orbi has features to "block sites" which contain certain words in the URL.
This is found using the Orbi web interface (http://orbilogin.net), the Advanced Tab, Security, Block Sites.
However, for all practical purposes it is useless:
It has no useful time of day restrictions on individual devices.
It only blocks web sites that are opened as "http" and does not block web sites that are opened as "https"
(which, of course, is most of them now days). And, modern web browsers are so devoted to security that even when the user enters "http", the web browsers often automatically look for an "https" version and open it instead. - Perhaps recognizing that the base feature is lacking, Netgear partnered with Disney to host their Disney Circle product on the Orbi hardware. (Disney Circle is also available as a separate piece of hardware.)
This has all sorts of features, and may even work.
However, this community forum has dozens of posts where Disney Circle was causing strange problems that could be fixed only by removing it.
My recommendation is to browse through the posts in the community forum devoted to Disney Circle and see if the experience that those users are reporting is in line with your expectations.
