Are you sure the Pioneer receiver is not just going into sleep mode, waiting to be woken up? My Onkyo works that way. It sleeps and when I need to access it, it wakes up.

Unlike the wake feature of your Onkyo... Pioneer has a specific network setting to enable or disable what they call Network Stanby. When set to YES.. the network standby featrure allows external devices to turn on or off the receiver. This has worked perfectly in the past using Apple Extreme wireless routers to extend my Comcast network. Pioneer has a lousy but functional mobile app called iControlAV5 that allows me to accees my receiver and turn on music zones, volume control and music sources. This is my go to app for summer outside enjoyment. What I have noticed when I use my Orbi mobile app is that my wired reciever device dissapears from my device list when left alone for a while. This is something new and the last item on my troubleshooting list of devies (but one I use the most). Now I am juggling where the problem lies... Xfinity router, Orbi setting or Pioneer reciever settings. I may try the bridge mode option and see what pandora's box opens up for me next. Appreciate your post... it was one of my first thought too until I dusted off the pioneer manaual again.
