However, I'm guessing I also need to do somethong on my Arris modem and this is where I'm getting stuck. Have looked at the guide here:
https://portforward.com/arris/tg2472g/ but am a bit lost as to what details to enter. I tried using the IP of the Orbi and the same port details, but this didn't seem to work. Modem said the Orbi IP WAS AN INVALID IP ADDRESS.
My local IP is setup as 192.168.1.4 and my modem is 192.168.0.1 and my Orbi 192.168.1.1.
Any ideas? Thanks.
Port forwarding is a router feature. You should only have one router in your network to avoid double NAT and the related issues.
If you did port forwarding in Orbi then that should be enough but please make sure that your ISP router (the Arris) is bset in bridged/pass-through/DMZ-forwarding mode so that it leaves the routing decisions to Orbi.
Another option would be to keep your Arris as your main router and set Orbi in AP Mode instead. In this case it would be enough to configure the port forwarding only in the Arris and not in Orbi.
Good luck.
