R6700 Firmware Version Update File downloads corrupt?
Setting up a NETGEAR AC1750 Smart WiFi Router (R6700) and was a little surprised to find that firmware update (V1.0.2.16_10.0.57) downloaded from Netgear Support as "recovered file fragments". Also ...

How Windows File Explorer describes a file (based on its name
extension, like, say, ".chk") and what that file actually is may be
entirely unrelated.
