RangeXTD WiFi Range Extender

I purchased a RANGEXTD WiFi Range Extender made in China. I have been unable to get this device connected to my Orbi RBR20. Anyone know what I need to do to connect?

Thanks

Rich

I have attached two similar products to my Orbi (TP-Link and Netgear). What worked for me was the WPS setup method.

i.e. press the WPS button on the extender and then within two minutes press the WPS button on the nearest Orbi unit.

On my extenders, this created a new WiFi SSID that was the original Orbi SSID + "2G" (for the 2.4G TP-Link unit, and also "5G" for the Netgear extender that does both 2.4G and 5G.)  Both had the same password as the Orbi.  I was a bit annoyed that the extenders created "virtual MAC addresses" for devices that connected to them, so that my carefully designed IP Allocation scheme did not recognize them until I added entries for the new MAC addresses.

This is the method recommended by one reviewer:

There is usually a web interface where the user can configure settings manually.

One thing to remember is that this is a "WiFi Extender", it is not part of an Orbi mesh network.  Devices that connect to the extender will not "roam" to the Orbi (and back) as they do between Orbi units.
