I'll try it. I just updated the Firmware on Sunday night. I didn't realize that Orbi would download something that was not the "official" firmware ...

It appears that depending on what version firmware is on the router and satellites, different versions are getting pushed to the system. My RBK53 system was on a previous firmware and updated to 2.5.1.16. Since then, several users have reported newer firmware automatically getting updated, but my system shows no new updates and the NG wesite still shows 2.5.1.16 as the current firmware.

Very interesting. I just changed 2.4Ghz to channel 8 (using NetSpot I saw that it was a totally unused channel around me) and turned off the 20/40 Coexistence ... I will monitor it over the next few days.
Suffice it to say, my son was none to happy when he missed out on his "song" during Kindergarten today, so any improvement is good enough for me!

So I changed the channel for 2.4 ... it crapped out at about 8:30PM last night (about two hours after I made the change), but since then has been up and running. I'll keep monitoring it for a couple of days. If it fails again, I'm thinking that I'll just end up getting a different system, because I'm not as adept as most on here about fiddling with a system that is supposed to be plug and play .... and I can't risk the downtime necessary to test and fiddle all the time ...

Try a factory reset on the RBR and RBS and setup from scratch since the FW was updated.
30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router
What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many? One User Experience/Configuration:
