RBK50 Satellite shows Poor Delivers Consistent High Speed
Recently ourchased an RBK50. Connected to my provider's modem for 150mb fiber service. The synced satellite connection shows as "Poor" in the web interface but it consistently delivers 100-150mb to l...

I have always wondered what "Poor" means. Fortunately, there is a method to determine exactly what the backhaul connection is:
- Telnet into the Orbi router
- Log in using the admin credentials ("admin" and password)
- Type this command
satelliteinfo wifi - This will display information about the wifi link between router and satellite. For example, mine shows this:
/# satelliteinfo wifi

"mac address" : "A0:04:60:0D:96:FA",
"hop" : "1",
"bridge mac" : "A0:04:60:0D:96:FA",
"backhaul conntype" : "5GHz",
"backhaul rssi" : "-67",
"backhaul macaddress" : "A0:04:60:0D:96:FD",
"backhaul phytxrate" : "975",
"backhaul phyrxrate" : "1170",
"backhaul parentmac" : "A0:04:60:1C:02:39"

Thanks, I appreciate that.
It's weird too because the web interface says the satellite is connected 5Ghz. I am guessing it always says that.

But, we're waiting for the results. What did YOUR Orbi report about the backhaul link?

Sorry for the delay. First things first. I use Macs and have no Telnet client, so I didn't make that test. If I can find a good one I may try it. If so I'll report here.
I cycled and re-synced the sat seveal times and noticed, in the web interface that the connetion starts as Good and, afte a few minutes, switches to Poor. In all cases performance remains very high. It is pushing the full bandwidth (150Mbs) I receive from my provider and has expanded coverage significantly.
About the house - I live in Mexico and the house has rebar reinforced concrete wall approximately one foot thick. The signal from the router to the sat must go through two of them. There is a window in one and a door in the other. Previously with a Nighthawk and NetGear extender I could count on about 4Mbs in the area wher ethe sat is situated. Now 150mbs. I can't really gripe too much.
Thatnks for the interest.
