RBK53 AP Mode Not Working with TDS Fiber Modem
Hello everyone. I have searched through the forum and on the web and cannot find info specific to my situation. I have fiber through TDS, they have provided a Calix 716ge modem (ONT), and my RBK53 ro...

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
If your ONT has a built in router already, This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop
Be sure to power OFF the ONT for 30 seconds then back ON. Reset the RBR and walk thru the RBRs setup wizard with a wired PC and web browser.

Hi thanks for the reply. I have seen you post this "double NAT" reply in other related threads as well, but I don't think it applies to my situation unfortunately. I am currently running the most recent FW 2.5.1.8 on router and two sats.
TDS is telling me that the ONT does not have modem capabilities and no interface that I can log into. It is also NOT a router. They mentioned that the modem they use is an actiontec T3200, but I was not given one because I have a fiber connection and there was no need. As far as I can tell, I have no way to access the ONT settings.
Do I need to buy a cheap modem and put that between the ONT and the RBR50 in order for this to work?

You need to ask your ISP what is needed so that you can interface the Orbi's RBR to there services. There needs to be some form of Ethernet interface connection at the ONT or some router or modem that the RBR can connect to for its' WAN port connection.
The Actiontec is a gateway modem, which can be used however already has a built in router and wifi.

Yeah they said no modem is necessary with a fiber connection. They are taking the fiber line and terminating it at the ONT, then using an ethernet wire from the LAN 1 port to my RBR50. Everything works as adverstised via a wireless backhaul. I just cant get the RBR50 to work in AP mode.
I suspect I will have to ask for an actiontec or whatever modem they use, and have them disable the router/wifi capabilities in order for this to work. Would that be a correct assumption?
Thanks for your help.

Ya you'll need another router inbetween if you want to use the Orbi in AP mode.
