RBR-20

My orbi-20 firmware is out of date but the app keeps giving me a “Firmware Check Error” how can I update my firmware?

  • You can always do a manual firmware upgrade by munaually downloading the firmware from https://www.netgear.com/support/product/RBR20.aspx#download

On the other hand getting the error from the app might indicate that you have routing issues in your network that is good to troubleshoot.

Start by checking if you have double routing in the network by opening a Command Prompt on any computer attached to Orbi and type:

    > tracert 8.8.8.8 (or traceroute 8.8.8.8 if you're using a Mac computer)

    1. If you see two private IP addresses listed in the first two hops then you have double NAT, and this can be the reason for the error you're seeing
    2. If you see only one private address and the second hop shows a public address, then you’re all good.
