Hi, my RBK40 has been working most of the time during last 5 years. However this week I found the router is kind of dead... by "dead" I mean it does nothing is on rather than the green power on light...

The satellite on the other hand works fine.
Can you please describe more about how the satellite "works fine"?
- Can connect to the satellite and browse the internet?

Sure, I used a generic router to connect to Internet and used ethernet backhaul to connect the satellite (after reset) to the router, the satellite turned into an AP, allowing other devices to connect to the router through it (both cable and WiFi).

If the router was dead, you wouldn't be able to connect the satellite to it at all.
Can you access the router through the gui? (using its ip address)

Indeed, I mentioned I used a generic router, not the Orbi one to test the satellite.

IF the green power light is on on the router, you can try recovering it.
You can try recovering it with tftp or nmrpflash.
are you on windows? if so, follow this guide
https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP
just make sure you enable tftp
https://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-tftp-windows-10
and here's a video walk through using a tftp client. Use the built in one for windows 10 though. the video is more of an example of how its done.

and if that doesn't work, you can try using nmrpflash
