Wi-Fi Spectral Bands: 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz

RBR 50 and satellite have connected without fail for 3 years. I have Spectrum internet service regularly around 200 mbps. The spectrum modem provides only wireless service and is located near my desktop. The Orbi is in the living room, 30 feet away. The satellite is upstairs. We have good connectivity all over the house.
Within the last 3 days my desktop has started becoming so sluggish online that I have frequently timed out and been unable to proceed.
We did speed tests with all our personal devices. It varied from 36 mbps to 200 mbps. I am not fluent in modem problem solving. I called Spectrum and we reset the modem twice.
I wasnt able to login to the Orbi app and had to reset my password. Then I reset the Orbi and synced the satellite. All of our handheld devices regained their normal speeds of 200 mbps.
But not my desktop. I had online Dell service. They ran tests, and then pulled up the Orbi. Dell said I had to have 2 named networks because I have both 2.4 and 5 connection types.
I just spent over an hour online with a Netgear technician. He says that my computer is using the 2.4 connection and he can't force a change. He said I had to buy an Orbi Extender EX8000 to fix it. (I also noticed in the list of connected apps it doesn't list everything that is connected.)
I think he might be wrong. The modem is sitting 2 feet from me and this desktop. There's only two of us using our network. The modem is right here and the Orbis are spaced correctly. We normally have great service everywhere. I see that even our Roku is on the 2.4 connection and we stream all the time with no problem.
Can anyone give me any advice?
Thank you!
