RBR10 New Firmware

Question

Hello,&nbsp;I have an Orbi RBR10 with 2 satellites. They are currently running on V2.7.4.24 which is almost 2 years old. Is Netgear not planning on releasing a new firmware, and is this system EOL?&nbsp;I've searched and came up with nothing.&nbsp;Thanks&nbsp;&nbsp;

If and when security issues may appear, NG may put forth a security update. No new features would be updated. Products and FW updates don't last forever. I wish they would sometimes but, this is how consumerism works.&nbsp;

It is a bit frustrating that it appears that the internal process Netgear uses to update information pages lags behind decisions.&nbsp; The product documentation and "End of Life" lists show some specific Orbi ac products as End of Life and not others. Yet the grapevine says the whole Orbi ac line is EoL.

There is also the practical aspect.&nbsp; If none of the software engineers are assigned maintenance tasks on a group of products, then for all practical purposes, those products are End of Life.&nbsp; Except.... that could change if there is a sudden urgent need to work on them.&nbsp; For example, these news reports of thousands of customer routers being vulnerable to a new hack can be a public relations nightmare.&nbsp; Can you imagine the response to, "Nah. Those are too old to care about.&nbsp; Those thousands of customers who trusted us should just buy a new router."&nbsp; Not going to go over well.

I totally agree! There are so many vulnerabilities out there and Netgear does not seem to care. Also like you mentioned, looking at their EoL List, they don't have the exact model i have listed, which made me wonder.

I didn't mean to imply a lack of caring. When a very serious problem is discovered involving Netgear equipment, the company deals with it. I see it more that focus and effort shift to new products and issues that affect actively selling products.

One example is the issue of those infuriating Internet of Things (IoT) devices which refuse to connect to WiFi when the smartphone is connected at 5G.&nbsp; When the 960 product was introduced (at $1,500 for a set of three!), Netgear provided their "solution" in the form of another SSID which could be restricted to 2.4G.&nbsp; Last Fall, this feature was added to many of the more expensive AX products (750, 850).&nbsp; Think it will ever be added to the Orbi ac products?&nbsp; (when pigs fly!)

I have similar frustrations with other companies.&nbsp; My 2013 Honda does not support Apple Car Play or Android Auto, which became standard just a couple of years later.&nbsp; Did Honda even consider updating the 2013 models to support them?&nbsp; Ha!&nbsp; Want to have that?&nbsp; Buy a NEW CAR.
