It's recommneded to not use the Orbi app to update FW. If you wanting to update fw, use a wired PC and web browser and manually download and send FW files:
Of course updateing the RBS first then RBR lastly. I would use IE, Edge or Firefox to do this.

I next attempted direct connection via ethernet cable from a win10 laptop loaded with both satellite and router firmware versions 2.6.1.38 image files using a google chrome browser. I attempted, as directed, to update the satellite first. After selecting the correct img file and clicking UPDATE it returned an error message 20 seconds later "incorrect firmware file".
I next attempted to update by connecting direct to the satellite via ethernet and received the same error message.
I didn't attempt to update the router since the satellite failed.
A similar trouble ticket for an RBR50 indicated it was an ISP branded Orbi at fault but mine was purchased from Costco, not supplied by an ISP. My provider is MonkeyBrains. Service is super fast and no problems with streaming audio or video hardware through my mesh network, so I'm goijng to stick with V2.5.1.16 until futher notice. You should be aware however that there is some kind of bug with this firmware update and my devices.
RBS20 serial # 5DL787500F72A
currently running v2.5.1.16. status "no new update"
