Yes I just need an extender for a tv and room as my incoming modem got relocated to another room due to other circumstances. I know it is 5 years old but I have no other reason to upgrade.
I don't want to buy used from eBay or anywhere else in case they are hacked and contain spyware or something, maybe I am paranoid!
If you know the least expensive way for me to meet my need please share otherwise I will be doing a few amazon searches but it seems more than I expected. I was hoping for $50 or less.

For the TV, I have been impressed with the TP-Link RE220 ($20 on Amazon)

"and room" is a bit ambiguous. Remember the key difference between "WiFi extenders" and "true satellites" is the ability for a device to roam seamlessly between access points. Will not happen with an extender. If someone carries a mobile device into that room, the signal may drop and performance become very poor. The "fix" is to disable WiFi and then enable WiFi again. (5 seconds).
I purchased a used RBR50 on eBay as a spare, and have been very happy with it. With the Orbi, doing a Factory Reset on the device completely "wipes out" anything that may have been loaded.

Thanks! I have explored that TP-Link before and didn't care for it much, probably just for the reason you explained, although I may not have understood it at the time!
I just bid for a RBR50 on eBay. If they are safe to get then I think that would be the best thing for me to do.
I really appreciate your help!- CrimpOnAug 23, 2023Guru - Experienced User
You do understand that Netgear Orbi units are 'fixed function'. i.e.
- A 'router' can act only as a 'router' - it cannot be used as a satellite on an existing system.
By adding one RBR50, you now have two routers plus one satellite. i.e. no expansion

Wow. no Sir I did not know that, I have so much to learn. I guess I have a router and an extender and I need to extend it more, so what can I buy in that case?
