RBR40 — Orbi AC2200 Tri-band WiFi Router -- Use with NETGEAR Orbi Outdoor satellite WiFi extender, w
Hi Everyone. We have a RBR40 router with two satellites. Very happy with them. Want to add one of the Orbi Outdoor satellites for usage with an outdoor security camera for watching wildlife mostly. Will the new Orbi Outdoor satellites work with our RBR40 or do I have to have an RBR50 to use that? Thanks in advance.

The RBS50Y outdoor will work with the 40 series.
The chief advantage of the RBS50Y is that it is a true "satellite", which means that devices will roam seamlessly between it and the other Orbi units. (The primary disadvantage is the cost.)
If connecting an outdoor camera is the primary goal, there are many WiFi Extenders which are outdoor rated, and even PoE powered.
