RBR40 2.6.1.38 firmware manual upload | 400 Bad Request Error
My Orbi RBR40 is already on 2.6.1.36 but I see 2.6.1.38 is available on the Netgear support pages, even though not offered in the automatic update page in the router. If I try to perform a manual up...

Found the error. I was trying to load the RBS40 firmware not the RBK40 firmware. In fact i already have the latest RBK40 firmware!

Try Firefox broswer?
You might factory reset the RBS and RBR and then try to upload the FW files. RBS need to be updated first before the RBR.

Using Firefox has the same response as using all the other browsers I tried. The RBW30 is already on the current released firmware and the RBK40 had the version 2.6.1.36 firmware installed manually without this error.
I am loathed to reset unless a simpler solution can be found. Maybe this is a bug of V2.6.1.36?

A bug in a Netgear firmware, it can't be.

Be sure you are using the right RBR FW file.
Try a reset.
