Hi Community Ive used my Orbi for many years with excellent results, but recently I tried to access the router via the mobile app and even though my phone is connected to my Orbi router, the App kee...

Thank you very much for explaining so clearly and for sending all those links and info.
Can I ask what are the advantages / disadvantages of each solution?
"1. Put the modem/gateway in modem only/pass through mode. This disables its routing functions." Here the "modem" is my Arris one I guess, no the Orbi? What happens to that modem and my connection with my internet provider if I do this one?
2. Leave the modem/gateway in router mode but put the Netgears IP address into its DMZ. This forwards the data to the netgear. You can either leave the modem/gateway’s wireless enabled or disabled. Just make sure its using a different wifi channel to prevent interference
- This one I understand more, but 1 query: Im not sure about forwarding the data to netgear. Is that like netgear becomes my ISP?
3. Put the Netgear into access point mode. This disables its routing functions. Wifi/ethernet still works but it does disable some features.
- "Netgear" here means the Orbi, right?
Thanks again 🙂

What happens to that modem and my connection with my internet provider if I do this one?---Your modem becomes just a modem and not a modem/router device. It disables the router side. Not all devices can do this
Is that like netgear becomes my ISP?--It doesn't send it to Netgear itself but to the netgear router is all I mean. this option works well for those devices you can't put in modem only mode or need the ISP device in router mode for IPTV or some other function it provides.
3. Put the Netgear into access point mode. This disables its routing functions. Wifi/ethernet still works but it does disable some features.
- "Netgear" here means the Orbi, right? --correct, the orbi. If you have a pretty basic home setup and aren't using armor/parental controls, this can sometimes be the easiest option
Thanks again 🙂
